The KYDS-TRI SYSTEM is KYDS’s proprietary framework for measuring visibility across traditional search engines, generative search experiences, and conversational AI platforms.
Local and international measurement nodes support location-specific testing across agreed markets. Controlled query settings and documented test conditions help reduce personalization effects and improve comparability. Results remain observations under those conditions, rather than a universally unbiased view of every user’s search experience.

Monthly measurement architecture
The framework combines search ranking observations, available first-party performance data, AI answer testing, and technical website checks into a monthly performance review.
Collection frequency, target markets, platforms, queries, and data sources are defined in the engagement scope. Automated monitoring may run between reporting dates where configured; a monthly report does not imply that every metric is collected continuously or in real time.
Every observation needs context
Collection date · Location · Device · Query or prompt · Platform · Model version where available · Retrieval settings
Retaining these details supports meaningful comparisons between reporting periods.
Four connected performance pillars
Traditional SEO
Focus: Tracked keyword positions, including Top 3 and positions 4–20; clicks and impressions where source access is available.
Collection: Location- and device-specific ranking checks, combined with authorized first-party reporting.
Monthly output: Regional ranking snapshots, movement against baseline, and search performance trends.
Generative Engine Optimization
Focus: Observed brand references, quoted passages, and source-domain citations.
Collection: Documented tests of selected generative search experiences, with source-link checks.
Monthly output: Citation frequency within the test set, quotation observations, and attribution accuracy.
Answer Engine Optimization
Focus: Brand mentions and recommendations across selected platforms, such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
Collection: Structured customer-question scenarios and repeatable prompt sets under recorded conditions.
Monthly output: Share of Model within the defined sample, answer accuracy, and discovery gaps.
Technical & local visibility
Focus: Core Web Vitals where available, structured-data validity, indexation indicators, and local visibility where relevant.
Collection: Rendered-page crawls, validation checks, available performance data, and location-grid observations.
Monthly output: Prioritized technical issues, changes in available indexation signals, and local ranking distribution.
Metric definitions and interpretation
Search rankings
Ranking figures describe the tracked queries, locations, devices, and collection times. They do not represent every search or every customer’s experience. Clicks and impressions come from connected reporting sources, not from IP-based ranking probes alone.
Share of Model
Share of Model (SoM) is the percentage of eligible tested AI responses that contain a specified brand mention or recommendation.
Qualifying tested responses ÷ Eligible tested responses × 100
Reports identify the event being counted, the prompt sample, the number of tests, and the tested platforms. This is a sample-based indicator, not an estimate of all AI conversations.
AI citations & retrieval
KYDS reviews visible answers and source links to assess whether a business is mentioned, quoted, or attributed accurately. Internal model reasoning, training-data membership, and retrieval chunks cannot be confirmed unless the platform explicitly exposes that information.
Technical & local performance
Technical audits identify observable issues and improvement opportunities. Local results depend on the query, location, competition, and platform behavior.
The monthly review lifecycle

Collect & validate
Gather the agreed observations and reporting data. Check completeness, record missing sources or collection failures, and distinguish comparable measurements from tests affected by changed conditions.
Audit & report
Report visibility changes, completed work, and priority findings. Document published assets and backlink changes where included in scope and supported by available data. Separate observed changes from explanations that require further investigation.
Review & refine
Where included in the engagement, hold a monthly strategy session with the technical team to review KPIs, competitor visibility, and next actions. Adjust the execution calendar to reflect the evidence, business priorities, and agreed scope.
From evidence to action
Collect → Validate → Compare → Report → Prioritise → Refine
A repeatable review process, connected to your agreed business objectives.
Governance and measurement boundaries
Collection methods must use authorized access and respect applicable platform access requirements. Geographic testing is used to assess regional differences, not to promise the elimination of caching, personalization, or model variability.
Search and AI systems change over time. Reports describe the measured period and test conditions.
Make performance easier to understand
Discuss your target markets, KPIs, reporting scope and an appropriate measurement plan.
